You'd be incorrect.
I recently had a client searching for a rental property. Great client. Works for a large multinational. Found a place. I wanted to go in at much less than list - the client didn't want to "play games", "Just get us this place!". I had this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Long story short, the landlord got close to his list price at over $3,900 a month for his condo.
Part of the Agreement was that the unit was to be professionally cleaned prior to the possession date.
You know where this is going don't you?
The Landlord is getting over $100,000 over the term of the lease and he can't be bothered sweeping the thick layer of construction dust off the floors in his brand new condo for a tenant. Or cleaning the windows or mirrors or light fixtures that have grey dust on them.
I called and emailed the Listing Agent, basically telling him that I expect the deficiencies to be taken care of this week. The Listing Agent, by the way, has gone to Asia on vacation, without telling anyone that he's working with, and by the looks of it, without leaving anyone here in charge of this business while he's away.
You know where this is going as well, right?
Thats right. No response. The place has closed. He doesn't care.
Nice huh?

Wow. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Most landlords are assholes. Good to hear they still are even if their charging big b$cks as well.
